Conclusion

The circumstances under which I performed these tests where far from ideal. An ideal situation would have been that I could compare these test to a 100Mbit switched cluster with multiple P-IV powered nodes, rather than the P-II's I used now.

However more tests could have been run, tests that lasted longer, tests with bigger files etc. I hope to find the time and resources in order to actually do tests again, however for now there are two clear results:

1. openMosix and FireWire work together smoothly

2. There is a significant increase in performance comparing 10Mbit to Firewire networking, specifically when performing oMFS related operations
